Last night, I found myself in the ER, hoping the pain in my abdomen wasn't my appendix about to go. I knew I was going to have a wait, so I grabbed a book I had started a while ago, but find that now is a very timely point to finish reading it: Influence by Cialdini.
This book is truly remarkable for anyone who would like to see the bigger picture of what influences us on a daily basis, from unspoken rules of reciprocity to the automatic functions of commitment and consistency. It's about learning to recognize these influences and either use them to help ourselves or see when someone is using them on us.
I find this very interesting, as I am still working to get my loan funded. I have had to hustle, and be creative, and really figure out how to accomplish what I need to without lying or deceit, but still getting done what needs to get done. Very personally trying, very testing to my people handling skills.
I also decided to ramp up my PR business, going after a really big opportunity I probably have no business going after- but why not? I want it, I can do it, I'm going to see if this book can help me there as well.
What things do you want to go after and need help figuring out "how"? A job? Negotiating an opportunity? A investment? Marketing a business? So much of life, business and money is really about people you know. Perhaps this a book you'd like as well.

LOL- no, whatever that thing does, it's still doing it! The pain was something else- much easier to deal with and less expensive than surprise surgery!

Hope you're feeling better!!
I got my new job through connections, a close friend who knew someone who was looking for some help. Now I'm going to start looking for side work because I've got a very expensive wedding coming up :)
