Self-Reflection Sunday: Living the Life We Want To Live

000_0483.JPG

One of my best friends from highschool came to visit over the weekend. We have been close for fifteen years- it's one of those special friendships that we can always be ourselves (good, bad or ugly) and always pick up right where we left off.

We talked about everything we have been through, where we are at, and where we want to be. We had an amazing time- but more than that- it was another reminder for me of how few women realize that there are more options for living the life they want than a boob job to snag a guy with "money". This is some women's financial plan (not my friend's plan, but girls she knows).

Ladies- we always need to be able to stand on our own two feet, have a money making skill set, and be able to manage our own money well. Our dreams and the life we want to live are nobody else's responsiblity but our own. No man, no man's money will make you happy or secure- only the ability to make your own money will ever really give the security that we women spend so much time searching for.

These are my thoughts, after a going out dancing several nights in a row, and watching the whole "scene" and wondering why more women don't know; but hopeful that the ladies reading this will get out there and live the lives they want to live without depending on a man to provide it for them!

Matt:

From a guys point of view you couldn't be more right. My fiance and I are keeping at least a portion of our finances separate and I would support her in anything she needed to do to make her career better. I would be disappointed if she wanted me to be the money in the house. In our day and age everyone needs to be finacially literate and capable.
